Rev. Dr. Hugh B. Hamilton

Rev. Dr. Hugh Basil Hamilton has been a full-time pastor in The Methodist Church for the last 30+ years of his life. He presently serves as Senior Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Hollis - both located in Queens, New York. In addition, he is Parish Coordinator for the Long Island West Queens South Parish of the New York Annual Conference (United Methodist Church). Prior to coming to the Queens-Long Island area, Revd. Hamilton served for 21 years as the full-time senior pastor of North United Methodist church in Hartford, Connecticut.

Rev. Hamilton holds a Doctor of Ministry degree (D.Min.) from Andover Newton Theological School (now Andover Newton Seminary at Yale Divinity School) in Newton, Massachusetts, a Master of Divinity degree (M.Div.) from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) from The University of the West Indies (Mona), and a Diploma in Ministerial Studies (Dip. Min.) from The United Theological College of The West Indies in Jamaica.

Rev. Hugh, as he likes to be called, is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in St. Vincent and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. He attended the Tranquility Government Primary and St. James Government Secondary schools in Trinidad. His first pastoral appointment was in the Tobago circuit of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA).

Rev. Hugh loves God, and he loves people. He has an abiding passion for teaching, preaching, mission and community outreach, and seeks always to be the best pastor he can be to all God’s people wherever he serves.

The proud father of two adult children, Joel and Josianne, Rev. Hugh has one publication in the area of marriage and family therapy, "Unbinding The Ties That Bind: Psychological and Theological Reflections on Marriage and Divorce for Contemporary Christians". Joel lives and works in the state of Connecticut and Josianne recently completed law school at the University of Boston in the Spring of 2025. In his leisure time, Rev. Hugh enjoys deep-water fishing and following his favorite sport, cricket, on television.

What time are your services?
Our worship services are held every Sunday at 10:30 AM. Each service lasts approximately 90 minutes and features a blend of contemporary and traditional music, prayer, and a sermon. We also offer a prayer service on Fridays at 7:00 PM.
 

Do you have programs for children and youth?
Absolutely! We offer a range of programs for children and youth of all ages. Our Sunday School meets during the 10:30 AM service, for fellowship, worship, and fun activities. We're passionate about supporting our younger members in their faith journey.
 

How can I get involved in community service?
We have numerous community service initiatives that you can get involved with, ranging from local food drives to international mission trips. To get started, go to the contact us page, fill out the section and someone will reach out to you from the church office.
 

Do I need to be a member to attend services or events?
Not at all! Everyone is welcome to attend our services and community events. Whether you're exploring faith for the first time or looking for a new church home, we invite you to join us.

We offer prayer and counseling services to anyone in need. You can submit a prayer request through our website or schedule a counseling session with our pastoral staff members by contacting the church office. We are here to support you in any way we can.
